Testimonials
To help recruiters and potential employers learn a bit more about me, I’ve been asking some people for testimonials regarding my talent, motivation and quality of work.
Here is one from my former ICS professor:
“Mason was an interesting student to have in my classes. Where most students wanted to get by and maybe get a good grade, Mason wanted to excel. 100% was never enough if he thought he could earn 110% or 120%. He often saw the class assignments as mere starting points, and would frequently use them as a springboard to independently teach himself concepts and techniques well beyond the scope of the textbook.
In one memorable instance, the final project for the Computer Architecture and Design course was to build a simple virtual machine. It was supposed to have such features as push, pop, add, subtract, print, jump – basic things. Mason somehow goaded me into offering an A for the semester to any student who could build a functional bowling score calculator capable of running on their virtual machine. Well, Mason not only built an intricate and feature-rich virtual machine, but he wrote the bowling program too. Apparently he preferred to spend however many hours it took perfecting that one project rather than the 2 hours it would have taken him to ace yet another one of my final exams. But that’s one thing you just have to understand about Mason – he loves to code and he loves to learn.
Mason is highly motivated and a self-directed learner. I would be hard-pressed to name another student from any of my classes who I think would be more likely to excel as a programmer than he.”
–Randy Dean Smith, former Information and Computer Science professor at Covenant College
And from my current boss:
“Mason has been able to learn and master programming in php. He helped in all phases of the projects he was given (some of them very complex), so he is familiar with designing, writing the specs, developing, implementing, and testing. He can work within deadlines and has come up with some very creative solutions to obstacles encountered. I recommend his work.”

I first learned of Mason when I posted what I felt was a complex problem on experts-echange. He solved the issue very fast. It prompted me to hire him to program a module in a website I am developing. EVERY SINGLE PROBLEM was resolved! I am very impressed with the functions written by Mason. I read some of the functions he wrote and translated them into straight math. I still have difficulty understanding the algorithims. (and I’m no dummy.. I hold a 4 year degree in Computer Science that included classes in programming, and discrete mathmatics) Mason is amazing.

Thank you for the kind words Jay! Once you get your site finished, I’d like to include it in my portfolio of projects on the website (though it will be difficult to say where your code ends and mine begins). I really love the way it’s turning out, and I wish you the very best of luck in bringing it to market.
